Two things:
1. I’m gonna try something new and offer to “chance somebody“. Send me your profile, I’ll take a look through and give you a thorough critique, on the condition that you allow me to post it on this site. I’m only going to do this for one student.
Here’s what you should email to john AT hopelesstoharvard.com:
A resume/tear sheet if you have one
Extracurriculars
Standardized test scores
Summer activities
General background info (eg, where you’re from, your target schools, etc)
Anything else that’s relevant. Sophomores and juniors preferred.
This is something new I’m trying, so let’s see how it goes!
2. I wanted to also write about a summer program I ran across recently called ThinkChina. The program, based in Shanghai, is led by some Stanford alums and helps connect high school students to internship opportunities in China. The program, besides full time internships, also includes language classes, college prep seminars and other fun activities to help round out the summer.
This is a great option for your summer and a unique opportunity to work overseas. Don’t overlook the importance of your summers for college admissions.
Hope that helps! For more info, read my guide to Ivy League admissions.
